A measuring system cable is required to transmit signals between position sensors of servo motors and their control systems in industrial plant and machines. These signals usually include, among other things, information about the position and speed of the machine.
Dependable cables for movements in the e-chain - for many cycles, high speeds and accelerations and more challenges.
In our 2,750 m² laboratory, we put our cables through their paces - and with confidence we can give them a 36 month guarantee!
With our tools you will find the right cable for every application - and can directly calculate the service life!
Depending on the type of signals to be transmitted and their origin or destination, different designations are used for the measuring system cables, e.g. resolver, feedback and encoder cables. These cable designations often mean the same thing, but are called differently depending on the manufacturer of drive technology. Here are some examples of how to use such cables: resolver cables pass the output signal of a resolver. A resolver is an angular position encoder. It captures the angle of a mechanical element in an underlying coordinate system. An encoder detects angles of rotation and usually delivers digital output signals that are decoded in an evaluation unit. The cable between the encoder and the evaluation unit is an encoder cable. With a feedback cable, information about the location of machine parts or about the condition of system components is transmitted to the control system. An encoder cable either transmits measured values to the control system or control values to the drives.
The error-free signal transmission is an essential prerequisite for the functionality of automatically controlled machines and systems. With measuring systems in particular, it is important that the electrical signals, which can be both analogue and digital signals, be transmitted without interference. Especially when used in the energy chain, the measuring system cables are often exposed to high mechanical stresses and bend radii. The chainflex measuring system cables have been specifically developed for such operating conditions and are adapted to the shield concept, the cable structure and the choice of material.
As a result of extensive development work and continuous tests in the igus test laboratory, the structure and material usage of the chainflex measuring system cables has been further optimised. With conductors made of fine-stranded tinned or bare copper wire, high-quality insulation and interference-proof shielding, cables with an above-average service life are available to the customer. The element shield consists of an extremely bending-resistant arrangement of tinned copper wires. It is fixed to the core surface by an element jacket made of a high quality TPE mixture. Overall shield consists of a braiding made of tinned copper wires. For the outer jacket, mixtures based on PVC, PUR or TPE are used, which are low in adhesion, flame-retardant and highly abrasion-resistant.
The product range of igus GmbH includes measuring system cables for all well-known drive technology systems. The cables are used in machining centres, robotic systems, packaging machines and storage and retrieval units.
The company WALDRICH COBURG GmbH deals with the complete machining of large components such as diesel engines, generators and ship propellers. The consequences are ever-increasing machining centres and increasing demands on machine technology. For the company, we have developed a special complete solution with a measuring system cable that reliably transmits the signals over a very long distance and ensures high machine availability.
