The proven E6.29 series made of standard material is now certified for use in dry cleanrooms by Fraunhofer IPA for ISO cleanroom class 4. The E6.29 was tested in a dry cleanroom with a dew point of -40°C (this corresponds to a relative humidity of 1%) and cleanroom class ISO 3 at 3 different parameter sets (v=0.5m/s, a=1m/s2 ; v=1m/s, a=2m/s2 1%). humidity of < 1%) and cleanroom class ISO 3 with 3 different parameter sets (v=0.5m/s, a=1m/s2 ; v=1m/s, a=2m/s2 & v=2m/s, a=4m/s2) and thus achieved the best possible result ISO 4. Battery production for the mobility of tomorrow

The days of the combustion engine seem to be numbered, because the car of the future will be electric. The battery system is essential for electromobility. This is why lithium-ion batteries are a key technology of our time, which has developed significantly in recent years. The production process must be continuously optimised in order to ensure flawless production and therefore a long battery life. Battery production systems require special environmental conditions, which are achieved by combining dry and clean rooms. As a result of the increasing number of systems and automation of the systems, the need for reliable cable routing that fulfils these high requirements is also growing.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA has therefore developed a mobile dry cleanroom tent together with the Cellforce Group. Due to long planning and realisation times, the large amount of space required and the long-term occupancy of production areas, classic, stationary cleanrooms are not the optimal solution for all applications. As a more flexible and cost-effective alternative, the new DryClean-CAPE® not only creates a highly clean environment, but also a production environment with low humidity. Separate air treatment units create dryness in combination with freedom from particles independently of each other. This unique combination provides the optimum, flexible production environment. This factor plays a decisive role in product quality, particularly in battery cell and automotive production. For this reason, the IPA has now also developed a new type of certificate for the combination of ISO clean room classification under dry room conditions. The e-chain® series E6 from igus® is the very first cable guide to be certified by the IPA under dry room conditions.

The result: ISO Class 4, making igus® one of the pioneers in this field. The e-chain® was tested in a dry cleaning room with a dew point of -40 °C, which corresponds to a relative humidity of <1 % at 22 °C room temperature. This means that the energy chain, which has been successfully tried and tested for many years, is now also suitable for safe use in dry room applications. At the same time, an endurance test of the E6 connectors is running in a drying room in the in-house igus® test laboratory. 10 million double strokes have already been achieved - and the tests are continuing. The durable e-chain® made of friction- and wear-optimised high-performance plastics is available as a standard catalogue item with various internal heights, widths and radii directly from stock.

In addition to its long service life, the E6 system offers numerous other advantages. For example, it is characterised by extremely quiet, low-vibration running - making it a good match for the low-vibration drive concept of the linear motor. The so-called polygon effect, which can occur when an energy supply unwinds, is reduced to a minimum.
