Hygienic special plain bearings in sealing units of KHS filling systems

Profile

  • What was needed: Sliding films of the type drylin® JUM-01-30 (as a customised product with a special surface structure)
  • Requirements: For the capping units of PET bottling plants, KHS was looking for particularly hygienic slide sheets for the linear stroke bearings. These should be able to be rinsed through during cleaning.
  • Industry: Beverage bottling plants
  • Success for the customer: The new special bearings of the type drylin® JUM-01-30 have a special, rough structure on the inside and outside, which allows them to be cleaned along with the inner and outer walls. The result is a particularly high level of hygiene.

Solution

An Innofill PET bottling line can fill and cap up to 81,000 bottles per hour. (Source: KHS)

The PET bottles are capped by "Servo 2" units arranged in a carousel. (Source: KHS)

This is how it all began: Originally, KHS used sliding foils with vertical grooves from our standard programme in the sealing units.

This is how it all began: Originally, KHS used sliding foils with vertical grooves from the igus® standard programme in the sealing units.

Special bearings with spiral grooves on the inside and nubs on the housing side as spacers are now used to improve rinsability and therefore hygiene during the filling process.

The igus bearings achieve a long service life even with frequent thorough cleaning. (Source: KHS)
