The powerful "viapal" storage and retrieval unit from viastore systems, Stuttgart, can lift Euro pallets weighing up to 2,000kg. The device is 43 metres high and achieves an acceleration of up to 0.5m/s2 and travel speeds of up to 4m/s. The stroke acceleration is up to 1.5m/s2 and the stroke speed up to 1.33m/s.

The company was founded in 1988 within the C. Haushahn Group, but has been active in warehouse technology since 1970. With around 350 employees, viastore is one of the leading international suppliers of turnkey material handling systems for industry and trade. These include order picking systems, high-bay warehouses, automatic mini-load warehouses and complex distribution and logistics centres. The company plans and implements new systems as well as modernising existing warehouses and adapting them to the latest technologies and changing processes.

According to viastore, investing in an automated pallet warehouse (APW) has many advantages for the customer. Not only do their own production processes become more efficient and safer. Above all, throughput, transparency and thus profitability increase. A high level of transparency means that warehouse stocks can be flexibly adapted to the actual needs of a company. At the heart of every APW are the SRUs, which ensure fast and flexible warehouse logistics. They must function absolutely reliably at all times, guarantee high availability and be easy to operate.

In vertical energy chain applications, the masts are getting higher and higher, the travels longer and longer, and all this at high speeds and rapid accelerations. It can quickly happen that the energy chain swings out to the side, e.g. in the direction of the rack structure, especially in the event of heavy lateral acceleration. If it then also hits metal beams or pallets, chain breakage is inevitable with so much momentum.

igus solutions:

Energy supply systems of the E2/000 series are currently proving their functional reliability in the warehouse specialist's SRUs. They are openable along the inner radius. This is particularly advantageous for repair and service, as a defective cable can be replaced extremely quickly. The variable interior separation, a long service life thanks to high mechanical stability, smooth operation, a wide range of fastening options and easy and versatile assembly are further plus points.

With guidelok slimline (SL), the energy chain always stays safely on track at mast and tower heights of 40 metres and more. Sven Wehrle of viastore: "We are convinced by the new system. It is now used in all of our SRUs. We have calculated that it will save us around 50% assembly time for the energy supply." This is why guidelok slimline is not only used in new systems, but also in retrofits.

To increase efficiency and improve the technology, pre-fitted energy supply systems are also used in the SRUs.
