For an FPSO ship (Floating Production Storage and Offloading), an equally suitable energy supply should be found for the rotating "mooring turret", i.e. the mooring tower.
The towers, from which all production hoses emanate, are integrated internally in the ship's structure or are located externally at the bow. As they are firmly connected to the seabed via hoses for the extraction of oil and gas, the ship rotates around the mooring turret depending on the wind and weather conditions.
Accordingly, high demands were also placed on the energy supply system, which primarily related to the flexible alignment of the ship and high turning radii. In addition, the guidance of the hose is exposed to the conditions on the high seas. It must not corrode and must allow safe guidance even under heavy tensile loads.
