As part of the Smart Borders Initiative, the EU Parliament has decided to introduce the common biometric entry/exit system, EES for short, for the registration of all travellers from third countries. The company Smart Kiosk Italy Srl has invented an application for this and equipped it with a complex software system that makes it possible to adjust a 2D-3D camera system and an anti-spoofing camera system so that it moves along a vertical axis. As a result, passengers' faces can be selectively captured on an axis of 900 cm depending on their height - this corresponds to a height of 120 to 210 cm.
Thanks to this precise detection, each passenger is optimally captured and their visual characteristics can be recorded. This system greatly facilitates security checks at airports, as the recording of these features can later be used to simplify and speed up planned security procedures. The application is intended for major international airports in Europe.
Access control systems must function reliably 24/7 in everyday life. However, this is precisely where the biggest challenges often arise: maintenance, lubrication, noise, limited installation space and unscheduled failures due to wear-prone components. At igus, you can find low-maintenance plug & play solutions for the typical movements in automated access controls. Compact, quiet and from one source: from height adjustment and cable guidance to bearing and pivot points for doors and barriers.

Are you planning new access control systems or would you like to make existing systems more reliable and reduce their maintenance? Then visit us at security essen. We will show you how lubrication-free components and ready-to-install solutions reduce downtime and the number of service operations.
