Lubrication-free bearings and reliable cable protection for medical technology

Medical surroundings require components that fulfil the highest hygiene standards. Our plain bearings and energy supplies made of a high-performance plastic are the right choice. With their solid lubricants incorporated in the plastic material, our bearings are clean and quiet, corrosion-resistant and completely maintenance-free. They are successfully used in X-ray robots, laboratory equipment, treatment chairs, hospital beds and prostheses. Our quiet and low-vibration energy chains ensure safe energy supply even in confined spaces, for example in operating theatres, rehabilitation systems and diagnostic imaging. Dual-plane fluoroscope of the LMB with e-chains

Compact cable protection at high speed on the dual-plane fluoroscope

A team of biomechanics researchers at ETH Zurich has developed a dual-plane fluoroscope that can track highly dynamic human joint movements in 3D and capture high-resolution, biplanar X-ray images at high speed. Two types of igus energy chains are used to safely guide the many power and signal cables on the high-speed imaging units during fluoroscopy.

Tested in the test laboratory for use in the real world

All products are tested for wear and load capacity under real-life conditions in the igus test laboratory, the largest in the industry. The results are incorporated into our online tools for service life calculation, which provide you with accurate predictions of durability. The test stands also include a cleanroom laboratory, in which we can quickly develop particle-free products suitable for cleanrooms up to Class 1 air purity with the support of Fraunhofer IPA.

Upon request, we perform customer tests to check product use under specific conditions.
