Wear comparison of lead screw drives
material iglidur® J with POM PTFE and PA PTFE

In the igus® laboratory the wear of different lead screw drives was compared and measured after 100,000 cycles.

The wear comparison was carried out under the following test parameters:

Load: 200 N

Rotation speed: 100 rpm

Stroke lengths: 140 mm

Experimental temperature: ~23°C

PA+PTFE on stainless steel, POM+PTFEon stainless steel, iglidur® J on stainless steel

Thread pitch: DS10x25, 3/8“-1“

Result:

The wear properties of all tested materials are different. The wear of iglidur® J is significantly better than those of competitors A and B. With a wear of 1.7 µm, iglidur® J has 61% and 33% less wear than the other tested materials.
